Though
the Japanese word 「ホームページ」
was derived from the English "Homepage", they are semantically
not the same. "Homepage" in English is usually used to indicate
the top page of websites, whereas
ホームページ in
Japanese has a wider meaning, which includes "web page",
"websites" or "World Wide Web".
「この写真はホームページに載せましょう」
"Let's upload
this picture on our web page."
「教育省のホームページを見てください」
"Please look
at the Department of Education website."
「メールは使えますが、ホームページは見られません」
"I can use
e-mail, but I can't get on the web." |
