The main purpose of this video series is to learn spoken Japanese
language, but also to gain an understanding of Japan as a foreign
culture by watching NHK TV programs. Scenarios, lyrics, sample
classroom activities and grammar notes are all presented in
the bilingual Teacher's manual.
Each program is recorded twice on the tapes (except tape Minna
no uta);
the first take is the original version, the second take is with
English subtitles.

"Rokubanme no Sayoko"  |

A school myth about "Sayoko" has been handed down in a
certain junior high school. Every three years, a student
designated by the previous Sayoko secretly carries out
Sayoko's promises, and the results determine whether life
at the school will go well or badly... Will you be able
to figure out who the real Sayoko is? |

Animation "Azuki-chan"  |

Story about a very ordinary girl in her fifth year of
primary school, called "Azuki-chan" by her friends. One
day Azuki's brother Daizu was witnessed ride on a motorbike
with an adult. This becomes a big fuss as Daizu has been
considered kidnapped. The person on the bike is a friend
of Azuki's mother who used to be her touring companion.
Their mother promised their father that she would stop
riding motorbikes, but they urge her to go out on the
motorbike with her friend, just on Mother's Day... |
