There have been 2 interesting additions to the Japan Foundation (Japan) Website in the past few months.

http://www.jpf.go.jp/j/learn_j/voice_j/index.html (Japanese only), features reports from the Japan Foundation's Japanese Language Specialists stationed in various countries across Europe, Northern Africa, Asia, North and South America and Oceania to encourage and promote Japanese Language Education. The Specialists provide assistance at a grass roots level, with curriculum development, tips on teaching materials, support for development of teacher networks and general encouragement of teachers in their respective areas. If you would like to find out a little more about what they are doing take a look at this page.
The other new addition is

http://www.jpf.go.jp/kyozai (Japanese Only) a web-based community for Japanese language teachers. After logging in you have access to pictures, lesson plans and a web forum for sharing ideas with other teachers - a chance to really practice your Japanese!

I'm Shunko Muroya, the new Japanese Adviser for Victoria State, having just arrived in Melbourne in July. This is my second time working in Australia as I held the same position in NSW in '93 and '94. Australia is the world's foremost country in Japanese language teaching in primary and secondary education. I feel quite lucky to be able to work again in this country and I'm looking forward to meeting and working with many of you. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

It's great to know that so many teachers are accessing the SLC website and utilising the resources available there. If you haven't had a look at our new Activity Resources Big Book online version yet, make sure you do. It even has animated songs you can sing along to!
