A Large number of papers were presented at the 10th Biennial conference of the Japanese Studies Association of Australia (in 1997). These have been published as a series of 4 volumes, and this the 4th volume focuses on areas of Japanese theoretical and applied linguistics (second language acquisition and teaching), as well as areas of sociolinguistics, translation and text analysis. This volume is a showcase of the variety and depth of research being undertaken in Japan, Australia and other countries on the Japanese Language. The Japan Foundation provided sponsorship for the publication of these four volumes and we recommend this volume particularly to Japanese Language teachers, linguistics students and researchers.

[Japanese][Video][Audio][Pop]
The Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute presents a new video for teaching Japanese in the classroom. This program presents 37 commercial films originally broadcast in Japan, all of which won prizes at the ACC All-Japan CM Film Festival 00/01. Students can observe the latest trends in Japan from these fun eye catching commercial films without the feeling of strong study commitment. TV commercial films by their nature offer strong messages in a very short time frame, therefore students will enjoy a sense achievement in each commercial. You need to fill in a special application form for this material with special 90 day loan period, the form can be downloaded from our library website www.jpf.org.au or contact us with your fax number.

Hai! 1 can be used at either the upper end of primary or at the first level of secondary school. New language, cultural points and vocabulary are introduced in the photo presentations and a variety of text types, and consolidated through Japanese-style manga.
