The Nihongo Journal [Monthly]
|
 |
|
| |
Held
: Vol.1, No.1 - Vol.17, No.3+ (1986-2001+)
[Japanese] [English][Vocabulary][Grammar][CD/Tape] |
| |
We
hold the complete series of this title from the first publication.
This monthly periodical features both Japanese lessons and Information
columns. NJ NEWS corner features several news articles of the month;
terms for newspapers are used in the Japanese text, though the style
is modified to desu-masu mode. You do not need to use a dictionary
since the English translation is shown right next to the Japanese
text, also a glossary of special terms is prepared and even background
information for the news is given to the readers. Japanese Proficiency
Test practice is featured through the year. There are information
columns such as book, music and entertainment reviews as well as results
of surveys on current trends in Japan. |

Held
: No. 23-29+ (2001, Apr-Oct+) [Japanese][News] |
| |
This
magazine is designed for Japanese primary school pupils to get familiar
to news style text. News File corner introduces several new items
each month and special terms used in newspapers are kept to a minimum.
Every month topics are covered that children are likely to be interested
in. Other featured topics cover Science, Sports, School life, Q&A
corner and so on. Some topics give reference for further studies such
as related web sites etc. On its own this material is not suitable
for classroom material or reading material for interest, but single
column items are not hard for students to understand and gives them
confidence as they are reading the same level of text as Japanese
children enjoy. |

Hiragana Times [Monthly]
|
 |
|
| |
Held:
Current 1 year [Japanese][English][Vocabulary][Traditional][Pop] |
| |
This
magazine targets upper teenagers to 20's who are interested in cross-cultural
experiences. All the articles are presented in both English and Japanese.
Interviews with people working in foreign cultures are regular features.
Readers' contributions are very active in this magazine and they speak
about problems they have faced through their cross-cultural experiences.
Quite a few topics from readers' contributions were used at the Japanese
speech contests in Australia, because understanding other cultures
gives students other points of view and raises their awareness of
problems in society. Hiragana Times has good material for raising
issues for advanced learners' discussion/speech sessions. |
