第32回 NSW 州日本語弁論大会+英語落語上演会
The 32nd NSW Japanese Language Speech Contest will be held this year on Sunday, 26th August. Following the speech contest, we are planning to hold an 'English Rakugo Performance' by a group of professional rakugo artists from Japan. The event will be held under the auspices of the Consulate-General of Japan and the Japan Cultural Centre, Sydney. This year the venue will be the Fred Hutley Hall at the North Sydney Council, which is just one block away from our Centre in North Sydney. We hope that many students and teachers will come and join us for both the Speech Contest & the English Rakugo Performance. Rakugo is the art of comic storytelling in which a single performer tells humorous stories, imitating the voices of various characters. It will be a good opportunity for students as well as teachers to be introduced to Rakugo and to enjoy one of Japan's traditional arts performed in English. The Rakugo Performance is presented free of charge, but if you wish to attend we require bookings in advance.
*For bookings and further enquiries please contact us on (02) 9954-0111.

第5回 NSW州日本語発表会+第2 回アート展覧会
he Sydney Language Centre will present the 5 th NSW Japanese Language Performance Day and the 2 nd Creative Art Exhibition at our centre on Sunday, 9 th December 2001. It will be held in cooperation with the NSW Department of Education & Training. Last year, we received more than two hundred artworks for the exhibition and because of this have had to limit the number of entries this year. We also received many requests from teachers to organise the annual exhibition around a theme. However, we have decided to leave the form of entries open to each individual/ group in order to encourage originality and enable participants to express their personal interests in Japanese language and culture. We hope that many students and teachers will attend and get involved to make it an enjoyable day for all.
*If you are interested and have not yet received any information (the 2001 Guidelines and application form), please contact the SLC on (02) 9957-5322, as soon as possible.
